Honoring our innate wisdom moves us beyond the sense of being stuck in pain or personal struggles. People need to be listened to deeply, supported and challenged through their recovery, healing, and transformational change process. Creating a refuge where it is safe to explore the incredible range of possibilities open to each human being is a strength and deep intention of mine.

Abuse & Trauma Recovery

My training in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, along with my many years of working within the child welfare system, provide a strong basis for working with survivors of abuse and trauma. I am devoted to assisting clients work toward recovery, helping them to understand how their past experiences have contributed to their troubled lives. From this foundation of understanding and insight, they are able to make healthy choices, change unhealthy patterns of behavior, reclaim their core selves and deeply value who they can become in the present.
Trauma
Anger Management

Anger is a completely normal, usually healthy, human emotion.  However, when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it an lead to problems -- problems at work, in your personal relationships, and in the overall quality of your life.  It can also make you fell as though you're at the mercy of an unpredictable and powerful emotion.

My goal is to help individuals reduce both their emotional feelings and the physiological arousal that anger causes.  You can't get rid of, or avoid the things or the people that enrage you, nor can you change them; however, you CAN learn to control your reactions.
Anger
Anxiety

Stress can come from any event or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, or nervous. Anxiety is a feeling of fear, unease, and worry. Mild anxiety is vague and unsettling, while severe anxiety can be extremely debilitating, having a serious impact on daily life. Anxiety is considered a problem when symptoms interfere with a person'a ability to sleep or otherwise function. Generally speaking, anxiety occurs when a reaction is out of proportion with what might be normally expected in a situation.

My goal is to help the individual combat whatever unrealistic beliefs that may underlie the anxiety and/or develop ways to manage worries.
Anxiety
Depression

Feeling sad, blue, or down occasionally is part of life. However, those that suffer from depression experience these feelings intensely and for longer time frames. Other symptoms experienced include fatigue, irritability, difficulty concentrating, and changes in appetite and/or sleep patterns.

I help those suffering with these symptoms to identify the factors contributing to their depression, and help them understand which aspects of those factors they may be able to solve or improve. I can help in developing skills to relieve suffering and prevent later bouts of depression, which may include strengthening social networks, creating new ways to cope with challenges and developing an action plan for positive lifestyle improvements.
Depression
Loss/Grief

Many of the issues we have as human beings are rooted in losses of various types, often complicated by aborted, delayed, or avoided grief.

I have worked with grief recovery in a variety of situations, including the loss of our four legged family members.  I assist people with healthy grieving techniques and clearing unfinished "business" which continues to interfere in their every day quality of life.
Grief
Marital/Relationship

Relationship problems are usually the result of the lack of effective communication skills and ability to deeply listen, not simple "hear". I teach people to build on and/or develop active listening skills, which develops greater understanding and validation of others, even without agreement, increasing the possibility of problem solving and decision-making. Fully developed communication skills can enhance and restore relationships between significant others, parents, children, friends, colleagues, and employers.
Relationship
Personal Growth & Development

This is the corner stone of my work. Each person comes with goals that one way or another lead to personal growth and development; some are deeply troubled, most are not. Yet, each person identifies area of needed or desired change. Many are seeking greater life satisfaction and happiness. Most want to be loved well and to learn how to love themselves and others more completely.
Growth
Stress Management/Wellness

I draw from a wide range of techniques designed to give each person tools they can draw upon for stress management and greater inner peace. The goal is to find tools that are a fit for each unique personality and life style resulting in each individual being able to draw upon themselves as the best resource available for healthy, healing choices in the overall goal of self-care.

Spiritual

At the client's suggestion or shared awareness, I will explore their desire to develop their personal spirituality and support their journey of discovering and deepening the spiritual aspect of their being. Spiritual coaching is basic supportive coaching for the individual's belief and value system; support of the essence of the person and facilitation of spiritual growth.

My goal is to help you to find your spiritual self.
